Age Concern Winter Warmer Campaign
The weather is changing and in time honoured tradition we are running our Winter Warmth campaign for 2018 / 2019.
The sad facts are that there is a spike in deaths in January and February due to the inclement weather and we like to do our bit for the community with this programme. It allows you to rest safe in the knowledge that your electric blanket can be used safely. We have goody bags for the first 100 people too and like the blankets once they are gone they are gone. If demand is really high then we will consider a second date in January.
There is a strong need to provide support to individuals in and around the community to manage wintertime budgets so that people have enough to eat and are warm enough. Age Concern Colchester’s comprehensive advice service is staffed by experienced, caring advisors, free of charge and completely confidential:
Winter Fuel Payments
Winter fuel payment is for people born on or before 5 August 1953. A tax-free annual payment of up to £200 if you are under 80, or £300 if you are over 80 living alone, is available to help with fuel costs. People in receipt of state pension or other relevant benefits will receive the payment automatically.
