Colchester Centre has limited on-site parking but a car parking space can’t be guaranteed. We suggest learners consider car sharing, use public transport or if possible walk to the centre. Learners travelling by car are suggested to arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of their course.

BEAMS (Basildon Eating Disorders and Mental Health Support) is a local voluntary service set up to provide support and information for those affected by eating disorders in Basildon and the surrounding areas. It is open to anyone who wants extra support to take the first steps towards recovery, those already in treatment or those who are recovering but would like occasional support. They offer workshops, presentations and training relating to eating disorders and mental health issues. A helpline is also available.

BEAMS offer to deliver and run self help work shops, training and courses on Eating Disorders and Mental Health. Its main aim is to educate and raise awareness about the stigma and prejudices attached to eating Disorders and mental health, but above all it provides support for those effected by this.

BEAMS offers telephone/email support for any person affected by eating disorders, be they the sufferer, carer or any person concerned by another’s eating distress. BEAMS are able to signpost people to appropriate support and services that maybe able to help and can offer advice and guidance.

The Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health Service (EWMHS) provides advice and support to children, young people and families who are in need of support with their emotional wellbeing or mental health difficulties.

The service covers Southend, Essex and Thurrock and is open to young people between the ages of 0-18, or up to 25 for those with special educational needs.

Any child or young person experiencing mental health difficulties as well as any parent, guardian or professional can access the service for help and guidance. Everyone goes through ups and downs, but sometimes feelings or behaviours can start to get in the way of day-to-day living. When this happens, it might be time to seek some help. We can support people with a range of mental health difficulties faced by young people.

Essex Outreach Support offers a short-term support service to people living within the Essex area who are experiencing a range of problems that are impacting their health, financial and housing wellbeing.

We provide a free and confidential support service to people over the age of 16 years of age. We can give information, advice and support to help resolve issues affecting you so that you can feel more confident, are able to live more independently and access services within your local community.

We can work with anyone regardless of their housing status, for example currently homeless, living in local authority homes, privately rented properties, as a housing association tenant or being an owner/occupier.

We also operate a free drop-in service in all the areas where our service is commissioned.

Futures in Mind is a partnership of:
Phoenix Futures, Mind in West Essex and Mid and North East Essex Mind.
Together we will support people with substance/alcohol misuse and mental ill health. This service is the first of its kind in England and offers an inclusive support. The service has been commissioned by Essex County Council and has been co-produced with service users.

We offer an inclusive approach to recovery and with that comes great opportunities for you to develop skills, meet like minded people, build confidence, gain qualifications and make further positive changes to improve your quality of life. We provide support for people who are in early recovery from drug and alcohol misuse and/or mental illness by matching them with trained volunteer peer mentors. The peer mentors use their own experience (direct or indirect) of recovery to support their peer and help them to realise their potential.
