Our research involves a variety of different tasks designed to test different aspects of human psychology (e.g., memory, decision making, communication, etc.) that are usually administered over a computer. You won't have to do much with the computer itself--think of it more like a television that presents information to you. In general, the studies will usually present some information to remember--words, letters, pictures, and so on. The studies usually take about 1-2 hours, depending on the study. At the end of the study, you will be debriefed about its purpose and have the opportunity to ask questions as well. You will also be compensated for your time; the specific rates may vary but often are £6 per hour.

The research is being completed in conjunction with Christie's Care, Age Concern Colchester and Essex University Pyschology Department

The people who live here are supported on a 24-hour basis, We have 1:1 support throughout the day, and we have one night wake and a sleep-in throughout the night; all our service users have 1:1s in the home and in the community.

We have a dedicated team. Some staff have been at Point Clear since it opened in 2007 with years of experience and some have just started their journey in the care sector.

All have varied backgrounds but share the same values and passions. We believe in supporting individuals in a person-centred way and our aim is to one day prepare residents for independent living by empowering and promoting their independence.

We support people with varied tasks and activities ranging from personal care and preparing meals to supporting them on their chosen holidays.

They also enjoy rides on the bus and some attend college regularly. We believe they should all live a meaningful and productive life.

Summer time consists of BBQ’s at the home, holidays and walks to the beach. Winter time we have movie days, indoor activities such as bowling, and arts and crafts.

All year round we all look forward to special occasion parties such as birthdays, Hallowe’en, firework night but the most favourite in our home is Christmas time!

Morley Road is part of Ambito care which provides personalised services and support to children and adults with a range of physical and learning disabilities, including Cerebral Palsy and complex health needs. Two characterful lounges provide a warm, communal area for residents and their visitors to enjoy. Separate dining rooms promote meal times as a sociable activity. Family and friends are encouraged to visit at any time, and join in with the activities or mealtimes.
