Owen Gosling sets a Date for the Essex Way Challenge

Big news!

Due to the Coronavirus, Age Concern Colchester & NE Essex has suffered hugely, both financially and logistically. So this year we have decided to do another challenge and it will be Owen, Harrison and Tom this time.

This years focus is on supporting the veterans of our elderly community, this year is a big year for them.

We have decided to take on the challenge of walking the 81 Mile Length of Essex in 3 days, in military equipment, to support the community.

“As our veterans once walked across the world for us, we will walk across Essex for them.”

Our Challenge now has a set date! ⏰🗓

We are going to complete the 81 mile walk on the weekend of the

Why Another Challenge? 🤔

This year there was never a plan to do another challenge… but then Covid19 struck and That meant that Age Concern Had to Close its Doors to onsite befriending services.🚪☁️

Age Concern relies heavily on its befriending services to get the elderly community together, combating lonliness and isolation in the elderly community. ðŸ˜

Covid19 isolated the elderly, pushing them further into isolation, undoing all the hard work and care given by Age Concern. This has been devastating for the Charity both in spirits and in revenue. 😥💰

Age Concern has managed throughout lockdown to provide remote services such as care support, emotional support, befriending support, welfare advice support and dementia support.  ☎️

Age Concern has managed to provide services for the most vulnerable of our society throught this crisis but it all comes at a cost and we have a moral obligation to help in a time of crisis!🚨

So… the 3 of us have combined our efforts to raise £6000 to make a start at getting the charity the financial support it deserves after this crisis. 💪🤝
