Team Profiles: Jane Diplock Operations Manager Befriending & Dementia

Jane joins Age Concern Colchester & North East Essex as Operations Manager Befriending & Dementia with extensive experience working with Dementia, Adult Social Care and Care setting experience. Having worked for Alzheimers Society, Runwood Homes and Essex County Council Jane has developed clubs, activities and support for those in later years and their carers and families.

Jane is now leading our Befriending, Friendship Clubs and Dementia for Age Concern across North East Essex and Witham.

Recently she has reinforced our Befriending service during the COVID-19 outbreak ensuring that our service can continue at full steam and volunteers can be linked to suitable companions by taking to the telephones.

Jane says we currently have as many as 189 people currently befriending but we are always looking for more particularly in rural locations. We are in no doubt that our befriending team will continue to be just as crucial after this current pandemic has been and gone. Though we are conducting our current service over the telephone, we are looking forward to reverting to face to face as soon as it’s safe to combat loneliness and isolation on behalf of the most vulnerable.

Can you spare 1 hour or more a week to talk to someone who is lonely, having to isolate at home alone and is perhaps scared of what is going on? Call today or click here to Become a Volunteer
