An Appeal from Les Nicoll for Winter Warmers campaign

Les Nicoll has been running Winter Warmers for 8 years now, sadly the need does not go away therefore, he is looking for your support for Winter warmers 2020.

If any of you or a local organisation have used or new winter clothing right from cradle to grave, other household items and want to see it go directly FREE OF CHARGE to families and people in dire need please read on. 

If you can support them please put the items in a box/bag and clearly mark LES NICOLL, E11 DOVERCOURT on it and send through the internal post.

The items will be put on racks in the pop up shop at Dovercourt Fire station in January 2020 when people from the community are invited in, given a cup of tea and biscuits invited to browse If they need it then they take as much as they need COMPLETELY FREE OF CHARGE. 

Winter Warmers is an initiative recognising the struggles of Poorer families and Individuals within our Communities. People in Later years experience poverty and could do with your help. For instance: The elderly sleeping on Urine soaked Faeces stained beds also those experiencing fuel poverty having to choose between heating and eating – See Age Concern Blog: https://www.ageconcerncolchester.org.uk/2019/10/25/the-scourge-of-fuel-poverty/

This involves the community collecting through December clean winter Clothing, coats, Jumpers, fleeces, trousers, hats, Scarfs, socks, shoes, boots and Gloves.

Then in early January opening up a Pop up shop at Dovercourt Fire station inviting the community in. If they see some winter clothing or bedding, they need and it fits them then they take it away FOR FREE without being judged, without giving any more information than their Post code and family size. Community action apart from a few labels and string, COSTS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING,

Winter warmers day is at Harwich on Friday 10thJanuary 2020 

This year they will be bringing Winter Warmers right into the heart of the poorest parts of Colchester.

Debbie at the Greenstead Community centre has given them the committee Room on 15th and 16th of January 2020 From 10.00amuntil 4.00pm 

Colchester Borough Homes have given them a garage for 3 weeks before the event to collect, store and sort Donations.

This though needs to be a whole community action, every organisation giving a little to serve many people.

This is a funding free opportunity to make a difference in our Community.
