“I was first introduced to the pivotal role Age Concern has through Jean Robinson, my old Air Training Corps OC. When I initially came up with the idea in January to beast myself around the island for eight days I immediately saw the opportunity to raise awareness and money to bridge the loneliness Gap in the elderly community.
So I piled all my plans, documents and briefs over to the Veranda centre and told Jean all about this exciting adventure over Coffee. We decided that this would be a brilliant opportunity to promote the amazing work Age Concern does and to try to reach a wider and more varied audience.
I had 3 primary aims when I started this challenge:
1️⃣- to make people aware of Age Concern and the issues related with elderly lonliness raising £6000 for the charity.
2️⃣- to highlight the positivity amongst the younger generations of today, rather than the negativity they are constantly covered in.
3️⃣- to get people of all ages, experiences and abilities interested and excited to explore natures gifts, taking on their own challenging adventure.
I hope I can inspire and encourage everyone possible to reflect on these 3 points and get out there and spread the word of this amazing beacon of hope.”
